YouTube changes its look on mobile for easier access to comment and share buttons
YouTube has revamped its mobile app’s full-screen interface, making it easier for users to comment on and share what they’re watching by giving direct access to these buttons.
The updates began rolling out to Android and iOS devices this week, according to Mariana de Felice, product communications manager at YouTube. They include the ability to like, dislike, share, and add videos to playlists and view comments, all in full-screen mode.
Previously, you had to swipe up from the “more videos” section of the screen to access these options.
Another feature of the new interface: suggested videos are now stored in a collapsible box.
Dislike button no longer shows how many people have disliked a given video, YouTube change.
Earlier this month, YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki said the audience dislike meter was often abused, “meaning it’s not always an accurate way to select which videos to watch”. .
Although automatic, the switchover is being released gradually and is not yet available to all users.
In addition, the makeover only concerns landscape mode: the user experience in portrait mode remains the same.
